Alright folks, let’s talk about Watertown, New York. A charming city, full of history, character, and… crooked telephone poles. Yeah, you heard me right. Crooked telephone poles. They’re everywhere, leaning this way and that, like they’ve had one too many at the Time Warp. And who do we have to thank for this? Our dear friends at National Grid.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I appreciate my lights turning on when I flip the switch as much as the next guy. But these poles, they’re an eyesore. They stick out like a sore thumb against the backdrop of our beautiful city. It’s like putting a plastic flamingo in the middle of the Louvre.
So here’s a thought. Why don’t we put these poles underground? I mean, we’ve got cars that drive themselves, phones that can practically cook dinner, but we can’t figure out how to put some poles underground? Come on!
Imagine this. You’re walking down the street, looking up at the historic buildings, the sky unobstructed by the crisscross of wires. Photographers would flock to the city, their lenses capturing the unspoiled beauty of Watertown. It’d be a sight to see, I tell ya.
And let’s not forget about the weather. Anyone who’s spent a winter in Watertown knows that when the snow starts falling, those poles start toppling. Power outages become as common as snowflakes. But if those poles were underground, we wouldn’t have to worry about that, now would we?
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “But it’s too expensive! It’s too complicated!” Well, I’ve got news for you. Progress isn’t always cheap. It isn’t always easy. But it’s necessary. And it’s about time we made some progress around here.
So, National Grid, I’m talking to you. It’s time to step up. It’s time to take those crooked poles and put them where we can’t see them. It’s time to give Watertown the makeover it deserves. Because this isn’t just about improving the view. It’s about improving our quality of life. And that, my friends, is something worth fighting for.
