BREAKING NEWS: Japan scrambled fighter jets after warplanes from both Russia and China approached its airspace on Tuesday. Japan called the action a “provocation” that was likely planned while it hosted an informal gathering of Quad nations.

South Korea has scrambled fighter jets after at least four Russian warplanes and four Chinese warplanes entered the country’s Air Defense Identification Zone without giving notice.

Russia and China have held the first joint exercise since Russia’s war on Ukraine began as a part of the two countries “annual military cooperation plan” over the Sea of Japan, East China Sea and Western Pacific, according to the Chinese Defense Ministry.
