King of Queens Episode: “The Itsy Bitsy Epiphany”
Scene 1:
(Doug and Carrie are walking through the park)
Doug (Kevin James) sees a group of children singing “Itsy Bitsy Spider.” He stops and watches them, a look of deep contemplation on his face.
Scene 2:
(Doug and Carrie return home)
Doug: “Carrie, do you ever think about the Itsy Bitsy Spider?”
Carrie (Leah Remini): “What? No, why?”
Doug: “It’s just… it’s so profound, you know? The spider never gives up. It keeps climbing, no matter how many times it gets washed out.”
Scene 3:
(Doug at work)
Doug starts using the Itsy Bitsy Spider as a metaphor for everything. He encourages his co-workers to keep climbing, no matter the obstacles. They find it amusing at first, but it quickly becomes annoying.
Scene 4:
(Doug and Carrie at home)
Doug continues to use the Itsy Bitsy Spider metaphor at home, driving Carrie nuts. He even starts singing the song at random moments.
Carrie: “Doug, enough with the Itsy Bitsy Spider!”
Doug: “But Carrie, it’s a life lesson! We should all be more like the Itsy Bitsy Spider.”
Scene 5:
(Carrie talking to Arthur)
Carrie complains to Arthur (Jerry Stiller) about Doug’s obsession. Arthur suggests that she should just play along and maybe Doug will get tired of it.
Scene 6:
(Carrie and Doug at home)
Carrie starts using the Itsy Bitsy Spider metaphor too, hoping to make Doug realize how annoying it is. But Doug is thrilled that she’s finally “getting it.”
Scene 7:
(Doug at work)
Doug’s co-workers stage an intervention. They tell him that they’re tired of the Itsy Bitsy Spider. Doug is shocked and hurt.
Scene 8:
(Doug and Carrie at home)
Doug tells Carrie about the intervention. He’s upset, but Carrie comforts him and suggests that maybe he was taking the Itsy Bitsy Spider thing a bit too far.
Doug: “Maybe you’re right… I guess I got a bit carried away.”
Scene 9:
(Doug and Carrie in the park)
Doug sees the same group of children singing a different song. He watches them with a thoughtful look on his face.
Carrie: “Doug, no…”
Doug: “Carrie, have you ever really listened to the lyrics of ‘Row, Row, Row Your Boat’?”
(Carrie groans as the screen fades to black, ending the episode)
